I am very happy to work with curator Zhang Nai-yu again this year. Together, we explore the connection between human culture and writing. As a tool for communication, writing is everywhere in our lives. It helps others understand, guide, point, copy, and recognize things.
Fajiao Design Studio took elements from three famous type studios in Taiwan: JUSTFONT, Ri Xing Type Foundry, and Chen Carving Store. We used German scaffolding to create a special scene. We turned names into writing strokes, and strokes into patterns. We combined images of the studios' buildings and objects to make flat artworks. These look like a mix of architectural drawings and abstract paintings, forming a surreal "Tower of Babel" of word creation. We also invite you to the rest area nearby to scan our latest EP. You can listen to sounds recorded from the three studios. This is the first time our artwork has left Taipei and arrived at Big City in Hsinchu. We hope to bring you a different experience!
