The Tainan Enterprise Culture and Arts Foundation, Cha Bu Wu, and Chit-Tho Art are all local creative and design action organizations in Tainan dedicated to the circular economy. Brought together by the "Xinhua Homecoming Design Movement" and invited by the client, we collaborated to establish the "Tainan Circular Economy Academy" at No. 127 Fuzhong Street, Tainan. With a sewing classroom as its primary function, the Academy serves as a hub connecting local merchants and allied organizations to create a design ecosystem friendly to the circular economy.

We carefully dismantled the interior boards and original fixtures, reusing old shelving as core material for new panels. We preserved the Longyan floor tiles to showcase their natural texture and refurbished the original wooden ceiling and paint, retaining its sculptural volume. All interior panels underwent rigorous planning to ensure every piece ordered from suppliers was fully utilized. Any remaining offcuts were left to the Foundation for future activities.

Under the challenge of such minimal and circular design, both the client and participants found joy in co-creation through a shared belief in sustainability. Strangers became friends through happy collaboration. The clients actively invited familiar groups to experience the DIY spirit of hand-making and reuse. Soon after opening, this place transformed into a vibrant hub for exchange.
