The enlightenment of ready-made objects

Ready-made objects come from various aspects of life, including books, cups, plates, utensils, telephones, and other industrially manufactured daily items. Led by Duchamp, the contemporary art movement has transformed the meaning behind ready-made objects and incorporated it into artistic creations, blurring the boundaries between craftsmanship and conceptual art. As a large-scale customized product, architecture often incorporates industrially produced ready-made objects that serve users in their daily lives. This time, ready-made objects not only serve as items within large containers but also become materials for structural inspiration, integrating into the landscape and becoming part of the construction itself. As a questioning of the possibilities of architectural interfaces, students are required to create full-scale sculptures of ready-made objects, reflecting on the true essence of "space" beyond conventional materials. After completion, the students hold an exhibition in He-Le Plaza in Tainan City, Taiwan, where shimmering waves and reflections of light dance upon their works. The students utilize slotted angle steel from my previous public art project as display racks, showcasing the diverse possibilities of ready-made objects in the scorching heat of summer.
