2019年七月應主辦單位的邀請，擔任《2019 新化返鄉設計》建築B組的指導老師，我將整個課程分為兩個工作坊：設計思考工作營及構造實作工作營。設計思考工作營的主要討論大綱在於2024年台南建城400年，新化作為一個台南舊城的衛星市鎮，在文化活動與事件上，可以擔任甚麼角色？在盤點市鎮資源後，組員們認為一個機動性的資訊展示中心，可以同時符合文化事件的機動性，亦可以在台灣多個地方做巡迴展示。因此設計思考工作營確立了本組要進行構造實作行動的重要契機，我們並串聯台南企業文化藝術基金會為主要的執行單位，讓這個機動性的資訊展示中心，可以真實地在社會行動上誕生。
構造實作工作營的成員們接續設計思考工作營的工作大綱，在現實尺度上思考這個機動性的資訊展示中心，可以用甚麼工法被實現？我們與嘉義福樟良材的團隊們一起討論出兩種可逆式的木作單元，其一為以傳統「通榫」為主要構造原理的木作主要單元一座，其二為「金屬套筒」複合木作桿件的木作次要單元兩座。另外我與組員們以「鷹架萬向活扣」搭配錏圓管設計出金屬次要單元一座。共五座臨時構築單元，2019/11/16於新化武德殿對向廣場，作為新化返鄉設計行動示範性市集的主要展場，市集裡展出新化返鄉設計行動所有成員的工作成果，其領域包含工業設計、產品設計、使用者體驗設計、建築設計等多元領域整合內容，向新化市民揭示返鄉設計創作者，可以為地方創生所帶來的嶄新創作能量！
In 2019, I am invited to Xin Hua, Tainan, for a regional revitalization campaign called "Design Action for Xin Hua", being an instructor to lead a team designing a reversible market. In the front of the Xin Hua Martial Arts Hall plaza, we arranged a L-shaped plan to make room for the show on the plaza, people could shop through the L-shaped market and sensed the vibrant atmosphere of the shows at the same time.
We designed three prototypes, wooden to wooden, wooden to metal and metal to metal for joint solutions. They are limited to the dimensions of 300x300x300 centimeters, to demonstrate the possibility of a large-scale temporary market. These prototypes respectively displayed three different craftsmanship, traditional wooden mortise and tenon, contemporary compound materials construction method, scaffolding assembly in the engineering scene.
Except for the strategies on construction method, we linked the regional construction team to be in charge of the maintenance of damaged components, tearing down while dismantling and re-install on another expo. In Taiwan, most of this kind of temporary shading system, you have to contact the decoration company, they will arrange an assembly team to build temporary tents. We tried to not only add more choice for the temporary shading system, but also broaden the regional construction team’s skill to face different kinds of user experiences and create regional construction knowledge.
